AUXILIARY ORGANIZATION LEADERSHIP

The Wisconsin National Guard Enlisted Association Auxiliary Organization is a mission-charged group of WNGEA spouses, as established by a charter, governed by a bylaw, with budgetary control, and managed by a membership elected or appointed leadership, and volunteers, and having a common vision.

On August 30, 1973, 44 National Guard Enlisted Association member spouses, representing 16 states, met in Des Moines, Iowa to discuss the possibility of forming a National Enlisted Association Auxiliary whose purpose would be to support the National Guard Enlisted Association in all its endeavors and to be a family support group when needed. Thus the National Auxiliary was born in October, 1974 in Biloxi, Mississippi. The National Auxiliary chose as its motto:

"SIDE BY SIDE WE STAND WITH PRIDE"

Membership in the National Auxiliary would be by membership in a State Auxiliary that had been chartered by National.

In 1978, a group of Wisconsin National Guard Enlisted Association spouses saw the need for Wisconsin to form its own Auxiliary and become part of the National Auxiliary.

The Wisconsin Auxiliary was officially born at the State WNGEA conference in 1980 after being chartered by National in 1979. During the 1980 conference with a formal Constitution, By-Laws and a few ideas, a membership of 33 began the move forward. The Auxiliary chose as its state motto:

"MOVING FORWARD TOGETHER"

The Auxiliary's goals and purposes were established and the work to achieve these goals and purpose is in progress.

> To generate a closer association with the spouses of Enlisted members of the National Guard and the WNGEA.

> To support the WNGEA and EANGUS, in attaining the overall goals and objectives, and to provide fellowship among National Guard families.

> To build a strong state membership, promote legislation activities, annual conference activities, social gatherings, and family support activities.
